Nano Boron nitride (BN) is a ceramic material composed of boron and nitrogen atoms. It has several crystal forms, the most common of which is hexagonal boron nitride (HBN, also known as white graphite), which is soft, lubricious, and an excellent insulator and high-temperature lubricant. It can be used in high-temperature equipment and lubricants. The other form is cubic boron nitride (CBN), which has a hardness second only to that of diamond and is often used in ultra-hard tools and abrasives, especially for processing ferrous metals.
Technical breakthrough:
Achieving efficient peeling through stretched flow field
The research team broke through the limitations of traditional shear flow field mixing and utilized the unique velocity gradient distribution of the stretching flow field to cause the h-BN layers to undergo bending deformation during the flow process, generating interlayer cracks. Subsequently, TPU molecules were embedded in the crack spaces, achieving efficient exfoliation of h-BN. SEM and TEM results showed that after treatment with the stretching flow field, the thickness of h-BN decreased from the original 1 μm to 200-400 nm, while the lateral dimensions remained intact.
